The MSNBC interview

Governor Andy Beshear did an interview on Sunday with Rev. Al Sharpton. Some excerpts:

(On the tariffs) “About $9 billion, 22% of Kentucky’s exports, go to Canada. Just think about a couple of numbers. First is 95 – that’s the percent of the world’s bourbon made in Kentucky, though that’s all the bourbon worth drinking. Thirty – that’s the number of points that Donald Trump won by in Kentucky. Yet zero would be the number of Kentucky bourbon bottles on Canadian liquor store shelves.”

(Later) “Let me tell you, if Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul, two Republican senators, and this Democratic governor all say tariffs are a really bad idea, it’s because tariffs are a really bad idea.”

The Twitter video

On Wednesday morning, Beshear shared a video on X. An excerpt:

(On Trump’s pardons of the 1/6 insurrectionists) “So those who break the law are being pardoned – and those who enforced the law are being punished. You know, America — and I do mean America: Democrat, Republican, Independent — no matter who you voted for, when we see something backwards like this we got to speak up. So let me hear everybody out there in one loud voice, look at this administration and say: That ain’t right.”
