WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 15, 2024) – Congressman Morgan McGarvey (KY-03) released the following statement today on Judge Cannon’s dismissal of former President Trump’s classified documents case:

“None of this is normal. Not the fact that Donald Trump is accused of the serious crimes of mishandling classified documents and obstruction of justice, nor the fact that from the beginning Judge Cannon has shown her inability to handle this case impartially. This new ruling is troubling and concerning and throws out all judicial precedence. From Watergate to now, the legality of appointing special counsels — which has been put in practice by both Democrats and Republicans — is clear and constitutional. This decision must be appealed.”
