Erin Marshall launches campaign to unseat Comer with striking launch video

A first-time candidate and a single mom, Marshall hits it out of the park with her launch video.

Editor’s note: I was going to simply post the press release, but then I watched the launch video. It is one of the best I’ve seen, and I encourage you to both view it and share it. It’s embedded below.

Today, first-time Democratic candidate Erin Marshall, a 29-year-old single mom, officially launched her campaign for Kentucky’s 1st congressional district against Republican Congressman James Comer, the House Oversight Committee chairman who is leading the impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden.

In her campaign launch video titled “Our Choice,” Erin Marshall calls out Rep. Comer for his hypocrisy as “an anti-abortion Republican who once took his girlfriend to get an abortion.” According to reports by the local media in Kentucky, Comer allegedly abused an ex-girlfriend and took her to obtain an abortion in Louisville.

She also criticizes Comer for conducting “phony investigations into President Biden’s family.”

Marshall decided to run for congress because of Kentucky’s near-abortion ban, as a result of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

In the video, she recounts her own decision to have her son as a single mom, after an unexpected pregnancy at 24 years old and how under today’s laws, she would have not been allowed the choice.

She lays out how much has changed in the past few years with women no longer having the same freedoms or rights and how it has ensued chaos across the country: “Over 60,000 women have gotten pregnant after being raped in the states that now ban abortion, including here in Kentucky.”

Kentucky has some of the most draconian anti-abortion laws in the country. In 2022, Kentucky voters voiced their opposition to the extremist laws, by rejecting a ballot measure that would deny constitutional protections for abortion.

Rep. Comer has been a staunch supporter of Kentucky’s near-abortion ban, despite its unpopularity.
