In celebration of Black History Month, the Kentucky Black Legislative Caucus is hosting a special Labor Roundtable on Tuesday, February 25, at the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

This important event will focus on the deep connection between civil rights and labor rights, the contributions of African Americans to the labor movement, and the current state of organizing in Kentucky. Senator Gerald Neal has chosen to honor APRI President Cylister Williams at this great event for his lifelong service to the movement.

We are proud to share that several distinguished leaders and advocates will participate in this discussion:

  • Bill Londrigan, KY AFL-CIO President Emeritus
  • Kevin Walton, KY AFL-CIO Recording Secretary
  • Lillian Brent, President of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1447
  • Berry Craig, Author, Historian, and AFT and KEA/NEA retiree

This panel will explore the ongoing fight for equity and worker protections, drawing on lessons from history while addressing today’s challenges in the labor movement.

As a valued member of our Executive Board and COPE, your presence at this roundtable would mean a great deal. It’s a chance to honor the legacy of those who fought for civil and labor rights while recommitting ourselves to the work ahead.

We hope to see you there to lend your voice and leadership to this important conversation. Please let us know if you plan to attend by replying to press@kyaflcio.org .

Thank you for all you do to support Kentucky workers and their families.
