Let’s play ‘GOP Healthcare Death Match’

The new fun game from our Repub Congress-folks in DC

Republicans in Washington are trying to decide how much to cut from Medicaid and other safety-net programs in order to pay for still more ginormous tax cuts for the rich and powerful. (Who obviously need even more money.)

In meeting after meeting, they are throwing around numbers like $500 billion, $700 billion, $800 billion. I mean, they’re just numbers, right? What difference will it make, really?

Well, the Center for American Progress broke out exactly what difference these numbers mean, by showing how many people in each Congressional district will lose their healthcare coverage – and how many will die unnecessarily.

So, since our five Kentucky Repubs are playing games with people’s lives, we decided to make it a game for them as well. Who can take away the most healthcare, and who can cause the most people to die? (And before you accuse us of being unfeeling when it comes to the health and possible deaths of our fellow Kentuckians – tell that to these five Republican Congressmen.)

What do you think? Which district will be affected the most? Which vote by which Republican will do the most damage? Flip open each section to find out.

CD 1 – Jamie Comer

CD 2 – Brett Guthrie

CD 3 – Morgan McGarvey

CD 4 – Thomas Massie

CD 6 – Andy Barr

CD 5 – Hal Rogers

The bottom line

Yes, this little exercise was macabre. But frankly, the lack of taste of this post was more than outdone by the death and destruction that these five Kentucky Republicans will do with their vote to cut Medicaid.

Here’s the bottom line: If the proposed $800 billion cut goes through, 475,000 of our fellow citizens will lose their healthcare coverage. And 893 of them will die unnecessarily each year, simply because Republicans would rather fund tax cuts for the rich than healthcare for the rest of us.

Got sick? Too bad. Have prescriptions that need filling? Sucks to be you. Going to die without healthcare? Sorry, but our rich donors come first.

Every time I hear some Repub bleat that they are the “party of life” I want to puke. Dear Comer, Guthrie, Massie, Barr, and Rogers – If you want to claim that mantle, then vote against this evil plan to take the health of your neighbors and turn it into 30 pieces of silver for your rich friends.
