A top aide to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell has joined Daniel Cameron's gubernatorial campaign in Kentucky, as the GOP nominee adds another political heavy hitter to his team in trying to defeat Democratic Gov. 'Parents' rights' group behind Kentucky book bans labeled as extremist by SPLC
A national nonprofit with Kentucky chapters - one of which pushed for the ban of three books in a Northern Kentucky district - has been labeled as an anti-government extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a research organization tracking hate and extremism in the United States. Moms for Liberty, which also has a chapter in Louisville, was added to the center's list of 1,225 hate and anti-government extremist groups across the country. (Courier-Journal)

A political newcomer and long-time manager of a sports apparel shop has been picked by the Fayette County Republican Party to face Democrat Susan Lamb in November in the race for Fayette County Clerk. Mammoth Cave National Park expansion proposed by McConnell, Guthrie
A 980-acre expansion of Mammoth Cave National Park is in the works. Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. Brett Guthrie on Tuesday unveiled legislation that would allow the park to acquire “critical habitat” within the Green River watershed from The Nature Conservancy.
“The property includes numerous cave passages, including Coach Cave and James Cave that have prehistoric and historic artifacts that the National Park System can conserve and manage,” said a news release from McConnell’s office. (Hoptown Chronicle)
